ATLANTA (WAOK/WGCL) -Parents of Robert Champion Jr., a student at Florida A & M University who was killed during a marching band hazing incident almost two years ago are hosting community forums in an attempt the educate the public and bring awareness concerning hazing and bullying at Universities.

Robert and Pam Champion hosted a community meeting Saturday in Decatur, Georgia, citing the feeling of being compelled to reach out to other families as a main reason  why they have initiated meetings designed to help other parents avoid the type of loss that their family has had to experience.

Ivory Lucky, a panelist for the meeting, told audiences that physical punishment is not worth joining organizations, regardless of how important they may seem.

Robert Champion Jr. was a drum major at Florida A&M University and died after being beaten in November 2011 after a game in Orlando, Florida.
